PUBLIC CONSTRUCTION OF AIRCRAFT
During the World Air Games 2009, two light aircraft (a Skyranger and a Savannah) will be assembled before the public at a stand in Turin’s most famous square (Piazza San Carlo). Starting from a kit, enthusiasts and amateur experts from various nations will be working in shifts, aiming at taking these aircraft to the air at the end of the Games. Aircraft will then be donated to non-profit humanitarian organisations for their own purposes.
![]() INTERNATIONAL FLY-IN & WORKMANSHIP COMPETITIONPilots flying their own amateur-built aircraft will have the opportunity to land at Turin Aeritalia Airport at well-defined hours. Up to 30 homebuilt, or restored, or replica aeroplanes will be shown to the public and judged on the quality of their construction. This dynamic exhibition will allow the public and media to observe aircraft, meet with their constructors and listen to their fascinating stories.
WORLD RECORD ATTEMPTSDemonstration flights and/or World Record Attempts in electrically, solar-powered, flapping-wing or fuel-cell powered aircraft.
