Bidding Process

PHASE 1

Phase 1 of the bidding process for the World Air Games 2011 was launched on 15 November 2007 in close cooperation with TSE Consulting, the international sports consultancy (see Press release).

The bidding process was open to all cities, regions, FAI member associations, private event organisers and corporate partners.

Documents available to the potential bidders can be viewed and downloaded here :

A Guide for Potential Hosts (pdf / 710 kb)
This 8-page brochure outlines the concept of the World Air Games.
A Tender Document for Potential Hosts (pdf / 710 kb)
This 90-page document gives detailed information on technical elements of the World Air Games (sports programme, event descriptions, venues, logistical requirements, etc.) and instructions on the bidding process.
Bid Application Forms (Word / 270 kb)
Included in the Tender Document for Potential Hosts as Appendix D, the Bid Applications Forms have been provided here as a separate MS-Word file for bidders who would prefer to write their answers directly on this form.

Interested parties had until 17 March 2008 to submit their Phase 1 Application Form.

FAI established contacts with some 12 potentially interested cities and regions located in 9 countries on all continents. Most of these have expressed interest in bidding for a future edition of the World Air Games (2013 onwards) once they have seen the concept of World Air Games in action in 2009.

PHASE 2

Phase 2 of the bidding process started on 9 April 2008.

SELECTION

On the basis of the submitted bid book, on-site inspections, interviews with bidders and evaluation reports by experts, the FAI Selection Committee will determine by a secret ballot vote whether and to whom the rights to host the World Air Games 2011 will be awarded.

The selection procedure has been interrupted temporarily. The FAI is currently considering its options. An announcement will be made in due course.
